Computer Art meets Photography

Below are graphic posters I designed for last year's art show but never completed. I used techniques learned in both this class as well as the Digital Photography class. Chernobyl - 2021 Grettel - 2021   Grudged - 2021 Some different techniques used in these images are brush strokes with dogging and burning, filters, shapes, distortion, and more. The black and white images gave many more options to work with.

Assignment 2: 3D

For my Assignment I've decided to upload these photos below as it shows my experience through learning 3D editing. This first photo is probably my least favorite. i love the colors in my suncatchers but because of the background the do not stand out as much as i would like.  This next photo is one of my favorites. The clock in the background creates a double image, which does not bode well for the 3D effect. However, i believe it creates and interesting image that really caught my eye. I am undecided on this particular image. while the effect is there, I do not see this as a particularly interesting image to look at.  This last photo in my favorite. The image was not very colorful to begin with, but desaturating it makes it stand out so much more.

Assignment 1: Collaged Images

Below you will see the 5 images I chose to submit for my assignment. There are two styles in which I completed this assignment based off of the examples provided in class. The first style being the typical collage style to create a new image. This first image is my original image I toyed around with in class. I do enjoy the concept of it, but I was hoping for a more realistic effect, and I feel as if there are skills, I am missing to make that happen. This probably would have looked better with some dogging and burning to add in the reflective nature I feel like space would bring. I will probably revisit this in the future. Of this style, this image is probably my favorite. One unknown fact about me, is this movie was the only thing that kept my quiet at the babysitters when i was a baby, and still today it remains one of my favorites. This image is an homage to my favorite scene. While I do enjoy the complementation of this peach against the sky of the photo I chose, I ...

Image Inspiration

Below are some images that I have saved to work on over the next few weeks. let's take a look at them... This first tide pool image intrigued me because of the clams, however the trees in the background seem to distract from that so I may isolate the bottom half with another image. This image shows a beautiful colored tide pool that i adore. However, i do think the snowy mountains distract from that. This is my favorite image i have found and will most defiantly be the first image i work from. I saved this image because the lights and shadows where very intriguing. I like this forestry themed photo the best. i am a sucker for a waterfall:)

More about the Author

Hello again! Without no further introduction, here is a little but more about me. I grew up and went to high school in Adamsville Tennessee. I never played any sports, but I was heavily involved with my school's art program. This involved taking 2 semesters past the available art classes as well as organizing a super cool glow in the dark art show. I attended Bethel University originally planning to become a nurse. However, after a couple of tries I realized that it just wasn't for me, and switched my major to art. I now plan to get my master's in fine arts after graduation and hopefully one day teach at NYU. Some things to know about me are that I am a huge Harry Potter fan, Slytherin being my house. I enjoy pretty much any music that is not country, but my favorite artist is probably Russ or Korn. I am currently dabbling in tattoos and would love to get an apprenticeship someday. Lastly, I love to travel; New York and New Orleans are my favorite places to be. If you wou...

Introductions - Kylie Carroll

Hello! My name is Kylie Carroll, and I am a Newly declared art major. I do many different arts and consider myself a jack of all trades. I have a fur baby named Theo. I enjoy my screen time as well as writing. If you're interested, I'll attach my Wattpad link to my poetry novel titled "Walking away from you" that I have been invested in creating over the past few years. I will, however, include a disclaimer that the novel is not for the weak for there is a trigger warning. Either way, I hope you enjoy my content and I look forward to working with you in this semester.

Broken Reflections: Final

Artist’s Statement- “Broken Reflections” Coming into art, I have always used it as a form of expression that was being oppressed in me from a very young age. As a child I was adopted into a very strict household that cared a lot about image. However, now that I’m older, I have learned that art can express lessons, values, and memories as well. This series is all about the latter. Within this series I have displayed mirrors in past homes or locations, these photos represent important memories of my past. These are key components of my past that have contributed to who I am today. The key point of this series is the reflection itself. I used to have a fear of looking in the mirror, and I tried to avoid them at all costs. As a child, I thought they didn’t matter, as a preteen I was scared of what the mirror showed me, and as I neared adulthood, I saw the person I pretended to be for the world instead of the person I truly was. Eventually, that grew tiresome and I realized there was...
