Assignment 1: Collaged Images

Below you will see the 5 images I chose to submit for my assignment. There are two styles in which I completed this assignment based off of the examples provided in class.

The first style being the typical collage style to create a new image.

This first image is my original image I toyed around with in class. I do enjoy the concept of it, but I was hoping for a more realistic effect, and I feel as if there are skills, I am missing to make that happen. This probably would have looked better with some dogging and burning to add in the reflective nature I feel like space would bring. I will probably revisit this in the future.
Of this style, this image is probably my favorite. One unknown fact about me, is this movie was the only thing that kept my quiet at the babysitters when i was a baby, and still today it remains one of my favorites. This image is an homage to my favorite scene. While I do enjoy the complementation of this peach against the sky of the photo I chose, I do wish I could have found a cartoon one to match the character Png I found online. As well, a movie logo with a lighter peachy tone would have matched much better to the image.

This last image was my least favorite. while I had to use the duck, I also wanted to add in other yellow characters as well to show how out of characters taxis look in a city like New York. I like the other two characters better. However, I wish I could have made the rubber duck really look like it was sitting on the car.

The next two images show the layering style of examples that Jason gave us, and in this case, these may be some of my favorites. I used some of my own personal photography photos for these.

When looking at my downloaded images, I found these purple mushrooms that matched very nicely with the long exposure images I did of my roommate with a purple background. I made sure to take the edited verson of this photo so that the editing would be minimal and i like the look it gives with her brightened skin. However, the one thing i wish i could have down would be lessen the mushrooms on her face somehow to show off the long exposure more.
This image is my roommate's favorite, and we both agree that it gives off "stranger things" vibes. The original image was a snow-covered field, so the alpha color was white, and that left Madi in almost full view which I love. However, like in the other image, I believe the trees would have looked nicer if they were less transparent.

Photography Exposure

Epcot center (Asia)- kSc   What does a photograph mean to you? For me, it is a way to capture exactly what I see in that moment. This could be a memory, a reminder or a time. It could also be a way to capture what you feel in a particular moment. The beauty of it all is that photographs themselves are so simple to look at but can usually entice all different types of emotions. And a person does not need to be a proficient to create these images. One only needs a camera and the means to learn what makes an enticing photo. What A marvelous hobby indeed. Madison Downtown- kSc Within my short life I have found photography to be one of my many artistic escapes. With a camera in my hand, people usually tend to shy away from my lens and as a result, they leave me alone. This is quite the relief for a social outcast like myself. However, I do often enjoy a subject to capture, and when no one else is willing I can find enjoyment in photographing my dearest friend, Madison Alexander.   ...

Assignment 2: DOF & Motion

For this assignment, since we were locked in due to the snow, me and my roommate Madison decided to use her as my model in a series of photographs. Here is the result. Depth of Field: With these photos, I experimented with depth of field. In the first Photo my goal was to show a shallow depth of field in showing the detail of the trees and Madison blurry in the background. I edited this photo by adding yellow to the highlights, green to the shadows, and upping the saturation of the red in her jacket. The second photo I tried keeping the depth more mid ranged to deep. Keeping the edge of the building in focus and the sky and trees in blur. I edited this photo by adding brown to the shadows and blue in the highlights. Then I added saturation in red and yellow to bring out the orange in the building.  In this photo however, I wanted the blur to be gradual. starting with a shallow field, my goal was to slowly see the blur increase as it went further into the distance. Assignment 1: B&W

This happens to be the first photo I took in our assignment. As everyone left to go else where I started outside of the classroom door. I originally thought it was plain, then I realized once I turned it into black and white, it did have potential.  TV1: In this image I decided to play around with the curve feature, ending in a negative exposure. This edit gives me SYFY vibes that I enjoy. However, I do not like that the back wall is almost all one color. TV2: With the older TVs, I thought sepia was appropriate, unfortunately I believe this photo is lacking the vignette and camera grain to make this photo truly look vintage.   TV3: Because I did sepia, I felt I had to do cool toned. Unfortunately, this is my least favorite photo. The only thing I like about it is the tint of color it gives the TVs. If I where to change it I would just tint the mid-tones and shadows. TV4: For this image, I wanted to make it look like it was on an old TV itself. I lowered the contrast and gave t...
