Assignment 1: B&W

This happens to be the first photo I took in our assignment. As everyone left to go else where I started outside of the classroom door. I originally thought it was plain, then I realized once I turned it into black and white, it did have potential.

TV1:
In this image I decided to play around with the curve feature, ending in a negative exposure. This edit gives me SYFY vibes that I enjoy. However, I do not like that the back wall is almost all one color.

TV2:
With the older TVs, I thought sepia was appropriate, unfortunately I believe this photo is lacking the vignette and camera grain to make this photo truly look vintage.

TV3:
Because I did sepia, I felt I had to do cool toned. Unfortunately, this is my least favorite photo. The only thing I like about it is the tint of color it gives the TVs. If I where to change it I would just tint the mid-tones and shadows.

TV4:
For this image, I wanted to make it look like it was on an old TV itself. I lowered the contrast and gave the overall image a gray wash. I am pretty happy with the result. The only thing I would add is maybe the TV static.

TV5:
This photo was a bit of an experiment. I upped the contrast and added an overall gray tone. I am pretty happy with the result, I just wished I didn't loose the detail in the middle TV stand.

Overall my favorite image is the negative. I feel like gives an interesting look, and of all the edits, this one kept my eyes moving around the most.

Comments

  1. Nicely done. I am particularly fond of the fifth image. The contrast is nice and works quite well in b&w. The composition is nicely done, as well. Very linear and angular.

  4. I like the last one photo. I like how the black stands out from the white. In addition, the amount of contrast between the black and white makes the grey parts also stick out. Great Job!

  5. The first one does give off syfy vibes but it's interesting. I am a fan of the last one because of how distinct the objects are in the picture. They are all good though! Great job!

  6. Hey there! I love the first photo as it reminds me of something out of a horror film! The brightness of the TV's bounce off the dark floors perfectly! I also enjoyed the cool tone one as well! Great job girl!

Assignment 2: DOF & Motion

For this assignment, since we were locked in due to the snow, me and my roommate Madison decided to use her as my model in a series of photographs. Here is the result. Depth of Field: With these photos, I experimented with depth of field. In the first Photo my goal was to show a shallow depth of field in showing the detail of the trees and Madison blurry in the background. I edited this photo by adding yellow to the highlights, green to the shadows, and upping the saturation of the red in her jacket. The second photo I tried keeping the depth more mid ranged to deep. Keeping the edge of the building in focus and the sky and trees in blur. I edited this photo by adding brown to the shadows and blue in the highlights. Then I added saturation in red and yellow to bring out the orange in the building.  In this photo however, I wanted the blur to be gradual. starting with a shallow field, my goal was to slowly see the blur increase as it went further into the distance. Photography Exposure

Epcot center (Asia)- kSc   What does a photograph mean to you? For me, it is a way to capture exactly what I see in that moment. This could be a memory, a reminder or a time. It could also be a way to capture what you feel in a particular moment. The beauty of it all is that photographs themselves are so simple to look at but can usually entice all different types of emotions. And a person does not need to be a proficient to create these images. One only needs a camera and the means to learn what makes an enticing photo. What A marvelous hobby indeed. Madison Downtown- kSc Within my short life I have found photography to be one of my many artistic escapes. With a camera in my hand, people usually tend to shy away from my lens and as a result, they leave me alone. This is quite the relief for a social outcast like myself. However, I do often enjoy a subject to capture, and when no one else is willing I can find enjoyment in photographing my dearest friend, Madison Alexander.   ...

The Invisible Man

Above are my attempts at making will invisible. the last photo in particular was hard to pull off as I had to completely copy and paste will onto the background photo to move him around because the two images did not match up.
